The pressure sensors oversee detecting the air in the intake manifold and read the amount of air that can enter the engine. They convert the measured pressures into electrical signals.
LOCATION
Located in the engine compartment, behind the throttle valve and is connected to the engine intake manifold through a hose or mounted directly on the intake manifold. Sometimes it is placed together with the ECU.
TYPES
- By a change in frequency: It measures the absolute pressure of the manifold and transforms it into electrical signal whose frequency transmits the pressure present in the manifold to the EMC
- By voltage variation: It measures the pressure of the manifold and transforms it into an electrical signal whose voltage transmits the pressure present in the manifold to the EMC
POSSIBLES FAULT SYMPTOMS
- Black smoke exit from the exhaust pipe
- Engine shutdown
- High fuel consumption
- Lighting of the engine fault warning light
- Loss of engine performance
