Original Quality for Alfa e-Parts’ new EGTS sensor family

490 new spare parts are added to a catalog with more than 6,000-part numbers

Alfa e-Parts, the newest brand of electrical and electronic parts that is part of the European Division of BBB Industries (BBB), stands out for the quality of its products. The latest family of products to be incorporated, within the category of Engine Management Sensors, are the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors or EGTS, key for the exhaust system.

These sensors, which measure and monitor the temperature of the exhaust gases in multiple locations in the exhaust system, are strongly complementing Alfa e-Parts catalog with 490-part numbers. These products come from the original manufacturer (OEM), and after a smart consolidation exercise, Alfa e-Parts provides the maximum OE codes coverage with the minimum number of parts, allowing customers to optimize space and cost-effectiveness.

EGTS Sensors Technical Information

The exhaust gas temperature sensor, EGTS, measures the temperature in the vehicle’s exhaust system. The sensor element changes resistance when the temperature changes. The ECU measures this resistance and calculates the actual exhaust temperature. This function protects the engine and exhaust components from overheating.

As shown in the diagram, up to 12 sensors can be installed in the exhaust pipe:

The most common fault symptoms of EGTS sensors are:

  • Changes in the resistance of the sensor element due to exposure to excessively high temperatures.
  • Damage to internal cables due to excessive vibration.
  • Exposure of cables to other contaminants or fluids such as oil or antifreeze.

And the most common fault effects are as follows:

  • Dashboard light on for particulate filter or engine.
  • Unnecessary regeneration of the particulate filter.
  • Increased oil consumption.
  • Increased CO (carbon monoxide), NOX (nitrogen oxides) and HC (unburned hydrocarbons) emission levels.
  • Altered engine performance due to the anomaly raised by the sensor failure as oil or antifreeze.

Original quality and smart consolidation, maximum excellence and optimized stock

These 490 EGTS codes (Exhaust gas temperature sensors) are of Original Quality, from OEM manufacturers. In addition, they are parts with the concept of smart consolidation recommended directly by the OEM manufacturers. These parts apply to a large number of vehicle models, which allows fewer spare parts available to meet the needs of our customers. Thanks to this work of unification and optimization, this allows our customers the maximum coverage of vehicle ranges, a smaller stock, a greater rotation of parts, and a better fill rate.
